Design And Build
When it comes to design and build quality, Acer does a pretty good job across all their products.
If you’re looking for portable options, Acer’s Swift series weighs about 3lbs to 4lbs and competes with some of the most lightweight laptops in the industry. You can even compare this with the likes of the Apple MacBook Air which also weighs around 3lbs.
The latest laptops from Acer are very compact and can easily fit into any student’s backpack. This is also a great choice for those who are always on the move.
Gaming laptops from Acer are also very well designed. The Predator series from Acer breaks old design languages and gives your gaming laptops that are not just coated with black and red but also experiments with new colors like turquoise and gold.
Chromebooks are cheap laptops and those from Acer or not particularly very impressive in terms of design. But we can argue that almost all brands make Chromebooks that I’m not too good on the eyes.
One issue we had with Acer laptops is that their entry-level laptops are very unappealing. The design language is dull and you can see that they have put the least effort when it comes to the design of this low budget laptops.
When it comes to design, ASUS does a fantastic job. Their entry-level laptops are slightly better than that of Acer’s.
One look at ASUS’s premium laptops, you will understand why we are going to give this section to ASUS.
The gaming laptops from ASUS are superb in terms of design. They have a fantastic build quality that is both durable and can take a few hits without any physical damage. For gaming laptops, you usually find designs that are bulky nature. But gaming laptops from ASUS are sleek and lightweight making them portable as much as they are powerful.
Even mid-range laptops from ASUS are very well designed and can compete against the likes of some of the best laptops in the world.
As far as design and build quality are concerned, ASUS clearly takes the win.
Components
Both Acer and ASUS are known for including world-class components on their devices.
Let’s talk about the displays. Both of these companies have very little difference when it comes to display quality. Their flagship laptops have excellent displays that are perfect for their target audience.
For example, the gaming laptops from both these brands have displays that have a higher refresh rate and much faster response time. Both these features are very important for gaming and these displays provide them as a starting point.
The processor selection in both brands is also very similar. Both these brands go for mid-range processors when it comes to budget devices. They do not shy when they have to go for an Intel Core i3 processor for laptops that are meant for light users. They also go all-in with Intel Core i7 processors in laptops that need a whole lot of power.
The selection of memory for their laptops is also quite compatible. They do not go overboard and provide the users just the right amount so that they get the best out of their laptops when it comes to multitasking and productivity.
In this graphics card department, we may have to give a slight edge to ASUS because their gaming laptops are super high-end and they have always edged Acer when it comes to giving the best gaming laptops.
Innovation
Both brands have their fair share of innovations over these years.
Acer, when it comes to gaming laptops, has a careful design language to not make it super bulky. Most ASUS gaming laptops are sleek and portable which is something they have paid a lot of attention to.
The Swift series from Acer is also one of their innovative models. Acer has managed to bring a 15.6“ display into a laptop that weighs around 2lbs. This is breaking new grounds as this weight is unheard of in the 15.6“ size category.
The battery life in Acer laptops is also very good. Even their budget laptops come with a battery life of around seven hours which itself is a huge innovation in the laptop industry. The flagship models have a battery life of more than 10 hours which is simply fantastic.
ASUS definitely takes the cake when it comes to innovation. Their flagship gaming lineup, the ROG Zephyrus, is of the best innovations they have ever made. For a gaming laptop that is that powerful, it is very slim and the design is super unusual among gaming laptops.
The convertible laptops from ASUS come with excellent design and hinges that are super smooth. Even entry-level laptops with aces have some innovation in them that separates them from the rest of the flock.
ASUS laptops also shine when it comes to battery life. All ASUS laptops have excellent battery life and they very rarely fail which is a testament to how innovative ASUS’s battery department has been.
Overall, the winner of the innovation section ASUS. Acer also has its fair share of innovations but it is just that ASUS edges them out in some areas.
Customer Support
Customer support is very important for laptop brands as that is what else you how much they care about their customers who are willing to pay them the money.
Acer gives you customer support via various channels. You can contact them through their website, social media channels, and also through the phone.
The phone support from Acer has been criticized for a long period. You get long waiting times, and the answers you get once you get connected aren’t that satisfactory. In recent times, we have heard that their phone support has improved but there are still miles to go.
They also have a YouTube channel where you can find a lot of support videos that are helpful for small problems with your laptops.
When your laptop is under warranty, you get the best customer service from Acer. You can even opt for additional warranty in case you are investing in a higher-end laptop which means you will get priority treatment from them.
ASUS has customer support through multiple channels just like Acer. You can reach them via phone, internet channels, and also through their website.
The phone support here is pretty bad. We wondered if there is someone who could do it was then Acer, and here we have ASUS beaming. The expertise of those handling phone support queries is not that good and they get it wrong.
The social media channels are much better when it comes to handling support queries. You often get very helpful comments that can handle your problems.
When it comes to warranty, you usually get a one year warranty from ASUS. Unlike Acer, you cannot extend warranty which is a bit of a problem when you’re investing it in flagship laptops like the ASUS Zephyrus line.
Both these brands are not that great when it comes to customer support. They have a lot to improve and in this section, we can’t have a winner.
Pricing
Acer does well when it comes to pricing their laptops. You can get a laptop at pretty much any price point.
You can also find some extremely expensive laptops with Acer. The gaming lineup in the predator series is a very expensive one and sometimes, you just can’t justify the price.
The Aspire series from Acer is one of the best ones in the market when it comes to value for money. It provides a wide range of laptops for those on a budget and you can easily justify the pricing as it delivers multiples folds over.
ASUS also does a good job when it comes to pricing.
The high-end laptops from ASUS can be atrociously priced. But if you are the right use of the product, then you will understand that this is a premium product and you can pay the price.
The ZenBook lineup from ASUS is a very successful series and ASUS has priced laptops in this series carefully. This series competes with some amazing laptops like the Apple MacBook air, the surface book, and other high-end models.
If you want to get budget laptops from ASUS, you can take a look at the VivoBook series. These laptops come with an excellent price to performance ratio and you should get fantastic value for your money.
We are going to call this section a tie as both ASUS and Acer have a wide range of laptops in all price ranges.
Value For Money
Like we mentioned already, Acer has excellent value for the money.
Whether you are planning to get a Chromebook or a mid-range Aspire series laptop, you are going to get a very good value for the money. These devices perform well for years which makes them a very good choice for those on a budget.
Even if you are going for high-end gaming machines, Acer provides good performance per dollar. When you compare the value are getting from Acer gaming laptops to that of ASUS, you do get a slight advantage here.
ASUS is also not a slouch when it comes to giving value.
The VivoBook series is particularly made for budget laptops. If you are someone on a budget, you can confidently buy a VivoBook and call it a day. These laptops are designed to last and serve its users well for years.
The ZenBook series competes with some of the best Ultrabooks out there. When compared to the cost of those ultrabooks, you will get excellent value when getting a ZenBook. check that you cannot find a similar laptop in Acer makes the series a clear winner.
When it comes to gaming laptops, ASUS offers a wide range of options. Laptops ranging from $800 to more than $5000 which means you can have any budget and you will still be able to find the right gaming laptop for you in ASUS.
Overall, if you’re looking for budget options then we have to give the edge to Acer. But there is very little difference between these two laptop brands when it comes to value for money. Both of them strive to serve the users and give the best value for your hard-earned money.
Acer Vs ASUS: Who Wins?
Regardless of which brand you choose, you will have a good laptop to play with.

You love to game but are on a budget, if that is the case, then you should go with Acer as their Acer Predator laptop series offers excellent gaming at a much affordable price point.
If you are a business user, then it is a bit of a tie. The Acer Swift laptop and the ASUS ZenBook a laptop or neck and neck when it comes to solving business uses. It is more of a personal preference in this case and we will leave that to you.
If you’re looking for a Chromebook, we have to give it to a source as it has a wide range of Chromebooks. One of the main reasons why we chose as soon as the winner is that you get a very powerful Chromebook option in ASUS which is not available in Acer.

The same is also true if you’re looking for a Chromebook. Always be sure to do enough research to find the right laptop for you so that you don’t have to play with their return policies.
