The graphics card on this Acer Aspire laptop is an entry-level one. We get AMD Radeon Vega 6 Graphics. From the name and the specs, you would have guessed by now that this graphics card is not going to let you game at the highest level. But when it comes to light and mid-range gaming, this graphics card is a high performer and will let you do a fair bit of gaming without any compromise.
This Acer laptop comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen 3 processor from the 10th generation. This is a quad-core processor and it belongs to the mid-range category of Intel chips. The laptop is also a fantastic choice for those who are looking for an everyday laptop without having to spend a lot of money out of their pocket.
The display on this ASUS VivoBook model is a fantastic one for the price. The 15.6“ display comes with an IPS panel underneath and also has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The colors on this display are quite good, thanks for the contrast ratio coming from the IPS panel. The blacks are deep enough and the whites are bright enough giving you a solid greyscale performance. Besides gaming, this display is also fantastic for consuming media on your favorite platforms.
The keyboard on this laptop is one of its best features. This Asus laptop comes with an ergo lift hinge system which slightly raises the keyboard by a few degrees. This enhances the typing position and gives you how much better typing experience. We will also find gaming on this laptop is particularly better because of this small design change.
The trackpad on this laptop is also fine but nothing spectacular. One minor problem with this laptop is that you don’t get a backlit keyboard which is a bit disappointing as you will have to depend on your muscle memory when playing in the dark.
The storage on this laptop is made up of 256GB solid-state drive. Even for a super budget laptop, we are very happy that Asus did not go with a mechanical hard drive. A solid-state drive on this laptop brings performance improvements all across the board and keeps the laptop snappy. The memory department on this laptop is loaded with 8GB of RAM that should give you enough freedom to play with multiple apps at the same time. One good thing is that you will be able to upgrade the memory later whenever you need it.
Like we already mentioned, the laptop does not come with a dedicated graphics card. You will be able to play most light and mid-range games without any issues whatsoever. The laptop also has a steady battery life of about 6 to 8 hours with light use. This number takes a nosedive when you do something heavy but that is okay for a laptop in this price range.

This laptop is one of the most portable convertible devices at just 3.55lbs. For a convertible laptop, this laptop also comes with a fantastic design which is why does the price for the price range we are dealing with.
The display we have on this HP Pavilion laptop is a 14.1” display that comes with full HD resolution. This is a WLED-backlit display with an IPS panel underneath that gives us excellent colors and brilliant viewing angles. Being a 2 in 1 laptop, this display also doubles up as a touchscreen. The touch sensitivity of the screen is excellent and it also gives full support for multi-touch input. Using this display for playing games and media consumption is a pleasure to be short and sweet.
The processor that powers this HP Pavilion convertible laptop is an Intel Core i5 processor from the 10th generation. This processor comes with a base clock speed of 1.3GHz and an Intel Smart cache memory of 2 MB. The processor has the ability to clock up to a maximum of 3.7GHz when you need more power. From a lot of customer reviews, we found that this processor can handle pretty much any game you can throw at it without any issues. However, that will struggle if you want to play graphically demanding titles.
When it comes to multitasking, this convertible laptop does a pretty good job. You have 8 GB of RAM that gives you the freedom to run several applications side-by-side without creating any lag in performance. The solid-state drive comes with a capacity of 256 GB which should be enough for most users. The SSD also plays a vital role in improving the overall performance of the laptop wherever possible.

Guide To Pick the Best Gaming Laptops Under $600
This guide is written with one goal, to keep your expectations in check. When trying to purchase a gaming laptop under $600, you are not going to have a lot of options and most of them are going to suck.
Most laptops in the list above come at a price point above $700 because that will give you the best value for money. If you’re very strict about the $600 price tag, then you should also understand that you’re not going to get the right gaming experience out there.
Display
Even when going for a budget gaming laptop, the display of the device is very important. In and around the $600 price range, you will be able to get a full HD display on your device. Before we dive in on the specifics, let’s take a look at some of the basics.
The first thing you need to decide about the display is the size. If portability is a priority, then you should go for a 13.3” display. The problem with the $600 price range is that most 13.3” displays will cost you a lot more.
In most cases, you will end up with a 15.6” display which is pretty much what you can expect in this price range. You can also go for a 17.3” display if you are willing to settle for an integrated graphics card as that’s what is possible under $600.
The resolution of your display will be your next station. In this price range, it is possible to get a full HD display. So we highly recommend do not go for anything other than a full HD display. Having a full HD display in this resolution will give you a pretty good gaming experience as most games will run fine at 1080p regardless of the setting you choose.
If you are going for a convertible laptop, then make sure that the display comes with good touch sensitivity. In this price range, there’s a good chance that you could end up with a not so good touchscreen laptop which can hinder your gaming experience. If you want a fantastic convertible laptop, then you should be willing to spend more money.
You also have the option to go for either an antiglare display or a glossy display. One might wonder what is the difference between these two. An antiglare display, as the name suggests, helps in reducing the class you get on the screen. This is a real issue when you work in brightly lit rooms or outdoors. If you want to eliminate unnecessary reflections on the screen, then you can go for this antiglare display.
A glossy display, on the other hand, does not reduce the reflections on the screen. Instead, it gives you the most accurate colors which are very important for people who work on photos and videos. If you want the most vibrant colors during your gaming, then you might want to pick a glossy display over an antiglare display.
Getting an IPS panel in this $600 price range will be a challenge but it is not impossible. An IPS panel gives you the best contrast ratio and images on the screen so having one will surely come in handy. Most of the models we have mentioned in this list come with an IPS panel so if an IPS panel is important to you, our list is a great place to start.
Ensure that your laptop display comes with a decent brightness level. If you are someone who spends most of the time outside or in a very brightly lit room, then the laptop should get bright enough so that you can see the contents of the screen. In this price range, you can expect a maximum brightness level of anywhere between 250 to 300 nits.
Processing Power
When shopping for a laptop under $600, you are going to find a few challenges when it comes to picking the processor. You won’t have a lot of choices and you will find that a few processors are predominantly found in pretty much all the laptop models out there in this price range. This kind of makes our job easier, but at the same time, if that’s not what you want then that’s a headache.
In this price range, you can get a quad-core processor on your laptop. Even if you don’t want to deal with a lot of heavy stuff, we would highly recommend not going for a dual-core processor as it can get outdated in a couple of years from now. Having more cores on your processor can help you handle more work in the future which is always a nice thing to have.
Whether you’re going for an Intel chip or an AMD chip (more on that later), you want to make sure that the laptop comes with 4 physical cores and 8 threads. On the clock speed is another factor you should consider before getting a processor. Most processors in this price range will come with mid-range clock speed.
You can expect a base clock frequency of around 1.2 to 1.3 GHz which is not that bad. Most users seeking a laptop under $600 will be light users and for them, this should be enough power. The processor will also be able to get to a maximum of 3.6 to 3.8 GHz which will give you enough power to handle some heavy stuff.
People usually overlook the Smart cache you get on a processor. Make sure that you get at least 4 to 6 MB of Smart cache on your processor so that you will be able to keep your everyday applications in memory and that can help you get a much faster user experience. Smart cache memory is available in pretty much all processes these days and it’s just a matter of how much.
Now, you have to decide between an Intel or an AMD chip. Both these manufacturers have given some amazing processes over time. A few years ago, we would have confidently set to go with Intel processors as they have the best reputation and performance for the price. But now, things have changed. And AMD has become a worthy competitor for the internet and has even overtaken them in certain aspects.
Since we are dealing with the budget section of laptops, we would highly recommend going with an AMD processor as you would get a better deal for the price and uncompromised performance. If you are willing to spend the same money on an AMD processor, then you might even end up with more performance which highly improves the performance per dollar value.
Let’s talk about how much memory you will need. If you are a light user who is planning to do some light gaming, then you should be fine with 4GB of RAM. More than the amount of memory on your laptop, the graphics card does a lot of heavy lifting so 4GB shouldn’t be a problem. Even though this amount of memory is perfect in this price range, we don’t recommend it for a few reasons.
We want you to start at 8GB of RAM as it will serve you well now and for a few more years in the future. 8GB of RAM gives you the ability to run several applications together without slowing things down. The overall user experience of the laptop will be so much better with this memory on phone. Sadly, in this price range, you won’t be able to get more than 8GB of RAM as it might significantly increase your budget.
If you feel like you will need more memory in the future, then you should opt for a laptop that gives you the ability to upgrade. This way, you can add more memory to your laptop later and that would be an affordable way to do it than getting it directly from the manufacturer.
Graphics
If you are on a strict budget and if you’re not feeling to spend anything extra, then you can be confident that you won’t get a discrete graphics card in this price range. You will only be able to score an integrated graphics card and its performance will decide your gaming experience.
If this is the case, then make sure to go for a quad-core processor that belongs to the latest generation. Most recent processors will come with a pretty good integrated graphics card that will allow you to do a decent bit of gaming. You will be able to run a light and even some mid-range games without any issues whatsoever. When it comes to running the latest and the greatest games, the integrated graphics card will not be of any help.
All of these dynamics change if you’re willing to spend a little more money. See if you can afford a $700 laptop, then you will get a dedicated graphics card in it. A laptop around the $700-$800 price range will bring an upper mid-range graphics card that gives you a lot more freedom when it comes to gaming. You will be able to play even some graphically demanding games without any issues at high settings.
Having a dedicated graphics card is useful for more things other than just gaming. It will allow you to edit videos on your laptop, do models that are graphically complex, and a lot more. We highly suggest increasing your budget by a hundred dollars or more if you want a laptop that will stay relevant and support your workflow for the next few years.
Storage
Storage is one of the most important areas where you have to be very careful. When you are going for a cheap laptop around the $600 price range, it is important to not be happy with a mechanical hard drive. Manufacturers will usually put a mechanical hard drive in your laptop with a lot of storage space say 1TB or 512GB to make it look like you’re getting a good deal.
But the truth is you are getting very slow storage and even though you get a lot of space, your everyday performance will suffer because of these slow mechanical hard drives. We highly recommend people to go with a solid-state drive even if it is the slowest one you can get. Even the slowest solid-state drive is a lot faster than the fastest mechanical hard time which puts you in a place of advantage.
In most cases, you will be able to get at least a 256GB solid-state drive if you are willing to spend a few dollars more. This solid-state drive is the perfect place to start as it gives you a decent amount of storage space and excellent performance. A solid-state drive can load up your operating system in just a few seconds which is way better than the couple of minutes a mechanical hard drive would take. This solid-state drive would also launch applications fairly quickly and reduce your waiting time by a lot.
If you really can’t find 256GB solid-state drive under $600, then we recommend going for 128GB solid-state drive. Yes, it is a lot less storage space, but you will still get a faster SSD which is a lot more important when it comes to everyday performance.
Since we are dealing with budget devices here, it is important to have a component that helps to improve performance whenever possible. A solid-state drive is a component that can completely change the way you use your computer on a daily basis. Imagine waiting 2 to 3 minutes for your favorite game to launch and then imagine that it will only take a few seconds the solid-state drive. That’s how life-changing an SSD can be.
Connectivity
Even when dealing with budget gaming laptops under $600, you cannot compromise on the connectivity options you get. The laptop must come with essential connectivity ports and options that will enable you to connect with other devices with ease. The laptop should come with USB Type-A ports that belong to Gen 3.1 or 3.2 so that you can transfer data fast.
It would be highly advantageous to have a USB Type-C port on your laptop, but it looks unlikely in this price range. Again, if you are willing to spend a couple of hundred dollars more on your gaming laptop, you can get lucky with a USB Type-C port that will bring a huge difference when it comes to connectivity. Remember, are USB Type-C port can transfer data quickly, can charge your laptop, and also can you connect your laptop to a high-end display.
In addition to these ports, you will also benefit from an HDMI port, an SD card reader, an ethernet port, and also an audio jack. Your laptop also needs to have a good wireless connectivity hub inside it. You must have WiFi 5 on your laptop so that you can access the internet at really good speeds. WiFi 6 is the latest and it absolutely changes the game, but it is impossible to get one in this price range. Your laptop should also come with Bluetooth 4.1 or above so that you can easily connect with Bluetooth enabled devices.
Battery Life
You will always benefit from having good battery life on your laptop. We always tell our readers to go with devices that can stay alive all day long. Unfortunately, these laptops belong to an expensive category and we do not have reach to them in this price range.
When it comes to battery life, it is more of what to expect than what you will get. In this price range, you can expect your laptop to last for about 5 to 7 hours at best. This is not a great battery life and it’s not ideal if you are someone who travels and spends most of the time outside. But you can significantly improve the situation by spending a couple of hundred dollars more.
Another way to look at it is that you don’t have to worry about battery life. As we are going for gaming laptops, battery life isn’t a big deal as you will be plugged into a power outlet most of the time. Gaming laptops are also notorious for having a very bad battery life so there is no point worrying about that in this price range.
Input Devices
Having a good keyboard and trackpad on your laptop can be easily overlooked. You can adjust any deformity on your laptop, but a faulty keyboard or trackpad could drive you crazy.
The keyboard on your laptop should have a spacious layout and the keys should come with good travel distance. Anything around 1 mm can be considered a good travel distance on a laptop so make sure that’s that. You should also go for a backlit keyboard as it allows you to work even in the darkest of circumstances. The trackpad on your laptop should come with full support for Windows operating system gestures so make sure you’re getting a Windows precision trackpad.
If you want to get fancy, you can go for a laptop that gives you a fingerprint sensor. This will provide an additional layer of security and also by giving you the convenience of bypassing the password every time you log in.
